Atlassian vendor collaboration feedback for App usage

Dear Dev Community,

We’ve added more new functionality to our App usage app. You can now capture web panel clicks by users to better gauge the usage and popularity of web panels. Most web panels can be tracked, but you might find some aren’t designed to be clickable or tracked for interaction, which is out of our control.

We encourage app vendors to test their app by installing our App Usage plugin with web panel clicks enabled (it’s temporarily disabled by default). This functionality introduced a wrapping div around web panel code, which can cause issues if the App uses nested web panels with certain HTML structures, or relies on dynamic scripts that access elements by node tree hierarchy rather than by ID or class selectors. We’ve tested it as widely as possible and contacted some app vendors, but all app vendors should test their apps and refine their code if web panels don’t work correctly. We’ll leave this functionality disabled by default for the next three months, then switch it to enabled by default. We encourage all app vendors to test their apps as soon as they can in that time.

We’d also love to hear your thoughts on how we can better help your admin team understand app usage. We’ve created a short and simple five-question survey for your feedback. We’re looking forward to hearing from you.

Stay tuned with us in this community!

Cheers
