Phase 1: No new connect app creation
Our development process assumes that each developer has their own private app for local development. Does that change mean that a new developer won’t be able to create an app for dev purposes as well?
Phase 2: All app updates must be delivered via Forge
In the second phase, only Forge apps will receive updates. Connect app updates will stop.
- Exceptions may be allowed for updates that help partners migrate apps to Forge equivalents, such as adding the mechanism for Connect apps to register a Forge app as their replacement.
What does this technically mean? Updating the descriptor is a part of our deployment process. Will something happen with the Update button on the Develop apps page?
As we still don’t have a clear path for migrating the app from the Atlassian/Bitbucket Marketplace perspective and implementing all app functionality in Forge may take time, what is the expected approach for updating the descriptor? Do we need to reach out to the dev support team after March 31, 2026 to register a Forge app replacement?
