# Can't do partial search for text custom field

I’ve added a string custom field to my app but the I can’t use the ~ operator on it in a JQL search. The custom field is the type string so I assume this means it is either a Textfield of Free text field. Both of these fields allow the use of ~

Has anyone managed to get it running?
