Hi, I have an idea for an app and am still coming up to speed on the marketplace. I am seeking guidance on whether to first focus on a Cloud or Server version since my understanding is these 2 environments are completely different and will require a separate app for each.
Which is the easier environment to get started in?
What is the breakdown of users between the environments?

There are a lot of things to look out for in deciding which environment you want to build for. We had a talk in AtlasCamp 2018 which I think might be good intro for you - Choosing Wisely When Extending Atlassian Products. We talked about ways to extend our products, differences between Cloud and Server development, how to build your first app, etc.
