Just completed my Apprentice Quest!
Hi everyone!
I just finished building Secure Notes for Jira – an app that lets users send encrypted, one-time messages inside Jira issues. Built entirely on Forge Custom UI, with secure storage in @forge/sql and @forge/storage.
It supports:
One-time encrypted notes
Expiry timers (1h / 1d / 7d / 10d)
Light and dark theme support
Private email notifications sent on note creation
Decryption via one-time Encryption Key (shared out-of-band)
Features of the Jira Issue Expense Tracker app:
- Add and manage expenses directly inside a Jira issue
- Supports INR currency format
- Inline editing for description, amount, category, and date
- Smart input validation (e.g., checks if amount is a number)
- Category and date support for better organization
- Clean, responsive UI using Forge’s native components
- “Delete All” button with red styling for quick cleanup
- Stores data securely using Forge’s built-in storage API
- Fully integrated with Jira’s context (no external setup required)
Just Completed the Forge Tutorial – Claiming My Apprentice Badge!
Hey everyone! ![]()
I just completed the Forge tutorial and built my first custom Jira dashboard gadget: Smart Weather Gadget ![]()
This gadget fetches live weather data and displays it on the Jira dashboard—helpful for teams with location-based planning or remote collaboration.
Here’s a screenshot of the app in action:
Thanks to the Forge team and community—excited to keep building more powerful tools with Forge! ![]()

It’s really an adventure and interesting to develop a Forge app and Cloud Env. I utilized the documentation and Forge CLI commands.
Aaaand here we are! I definitely think it would’ve been helpful between Step 2 and three, when asking folks to try and complete things on their own, if some more guidance in terms of what was left to be done had been there - it just stops and there’s… nothing.
Either way, finished it!!!
