When fetching users on the frontend from the REST API with `AP.request('/rest/api/2/user/bulk')` only the initials are shown as avatars for users that have not set their profile pictures to public visibility. Is there a way to make the request as the logged in user so others’ (and their own) visibility settings apply just like in the Jira dashboard?

Edit: my issue is basically same as [this](https://community.developer.atlassian.com/t/users-api-returns-users-initials-avatars-instead-of-real-ones/53933) but I’m using Connect API on the frontend.

Hi @LaszloBucsai,

Thanks for your message and welcome to Atlassian Developer Community! 🥳

Unfortunately it’s not possible. As part of GDPR restrictions apps are only granted public visibility even for frontend requests coming through a user’s session.

See [Profile visibility and third-party apps | Connect apps](https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/platform/profile-visibility/#connect-apps) for reference:

> Connect apps only have access to profile information that is available to the public (“Anyone”)(…)
