How can UI Kit MacroConfig read existing config from page?

If I put a MacroConfig element in a page and then open the macro edit, it loads the defaults from the Forge module, not the existing macro settings for that page. Can this be corrected?

I’m using this page as a guide:
Add configuration to a macro (atlassian.com)

Ignore, I had a case mismatch between the default names and the page context names.
