How to update the status of an ITSM ticket


I’m coding an internal tool that creates ITSM tickets and with the API documentation I am able to create issues and to place comments.
What I can’t find is how I can update the status of an issue, for example to mark an issue as resolved.
Does somebody know how I can do this?

If by “ITSM ticket” you mean an Issue of some type, then you don’t ‘update’ its status, you transition it to that status using the aptly named Transition Issue endpoint.

Google “jira cloud rest api transition issue” or “jira cloud rest api change issue status” to find where that question has been asked many times before and the answer provided in many places such as the Community forum in threads such as this one.
