jira:issuePanel button on click event?

Hello, I’m following the simple tutorial here to create simple custom UI using Forge: https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/build-a-custom-ui-app-in-jira/

But I’m a bit confused by the documentation for Issue Panels in the Manifest: https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/manifest-reference/modules/jira-issue-panel/

Here it says:

The jira:issuePanel module adds an issue panel to a Jira issue when a configured button is clicked. The content of the module is shown above the Activity panel on a Jira issue.

When you run hello-world-panel sample, the content above the Activity panel just appears immediately, it doesn’t wait for the button to be pressed. How can you tie into the button event? Or is this only possible when using UI Kit components?

If this is possible, I’d almost like a way to NOT include the button at the top of the panel, since it’s not serving any purpose when using a custom UI…

Hello, @BM_50,

That is surprising. Both according to my testing, the tutorial, and the documentation, installing the issue panel module causes a button to appear at the top of the issue, and to display the panel you need to first click it. Note that once added that way, the panel remains on the issue even after reloading the page.

I see what you mean now. I guess I just did not expect this behavior:

Note that once added that way, the panel remains on the issue even after reloading the page.
