my name is Pascal; I’m a DevSecOps engineer and have been using Ubuntu for work for years. It’s bothered me for a long time that there isn’t a real Ubuntu alternative to Loom. In the end, I installed Chrome just for the Loom extension. The extension works okay. I create about 10 Looms a day for work and need a good application for that.
I’ve built an unofficial Linux desktop client for Loom using the
@loomhq/record-sdk and @loomhq/loom-embed npm packages. The app is a
personal/community project (not commercial, not competing with Loom).
I’d like to publish it as open source on GitHub so other Linux users
can use and contribute to it.
I’ve read the SDK Beta Agreement and I understand the SDK materials are
designated as Confidential Information. I’m therefore asking for
explicit written permission to:
1. Publish the integration source code publicly on GitHub
2. Allow others to clone/fork the repo and build it themselves
(each user would supply their own app_id from the developer portal)
The app does not redistribute the SDK binaries and it uses the npm
packages as a standard dependency. It does not modify the SDK or compete
with Loom’s products.
Could you confirm in writing whether this is permitted under the current
developer terms?
