Update on the recent drop in Google Analytics page view events on app listings

Recently we’ve received reports of a drop in the number of app listing page views partners are seeing in Google Analytics. Starting September 9th, you may have noticed a significant drop in your app listing page view events.

We’ve performed a thorough analysis on this sudden drop and we have identified the cause. On June 7th, we had an internal release that led to app listing page getting re-rendering every time there was a change in query parameter. This caused duplicate events to be fired in Google Analytics between June 7, 2022 and September 9, 2022.

This issue was rectified with another release on September 9th, 2022 and we can confirm that the numbers you see for app listing page views before 7 Jun 2022 and after 9 Sep 2022 are the accurate figures. Any spike you may have witnessed between these 2 dates was caused by duplicate events.

To clarify, there has been no organic decrease in the activity or views on your app listings.
