Wait, really? I’ve been waiting for this as well. According to this comment from May last year, the team is/was working on this endpoint, and in RFC-19 it was said to be “nearing release.”
There are even more feature gaps that aren’t tracked. For example, there’s still no or very limited support for folders and other new content types in REST v2 (see my comment on the folders RFC).
