Using propertyPanel in a dynamic content macro

I am looking the propertyPanel option in dynamic content macros at Macro Property Panel. I am able to add my template for the hidden iframe and a number of buttons to the property panel, but how do I add handlers to the buttons? I don’t see anything in the documentation, and it isn’t any use if the controls on the panel cannot do anything.
