`atl.footer` extension point removed from Confluence databases and whiteboards with no consultation, RFC or deprecation period

Previously, the atl.footer location was working for both databases and whiteboards, which was awesome, it meant that my app automatically worked with these new features.

Sometime in the recent past, the atl.footer extension point was removed from both databases and whiteboards, which means that my app which previously worked with these new features, is now broken.

This is beyond disappointing as there was no notice of a deprecation period and certainly no RFC to consult on how apps would be affected by this breaking change.

How can we get this extension point back?

@TamimNoorzad

FYI: The app concerned was using the atl.footer location for web analytics data collection.

Hi all,

The Confluence team are looking at what is possible to add atl.footer back to all content types.

Please give us a day or two further for me to get confirmation of exactly what and when its happening.

Thanks,
James

Hi there,

I am told that we have a solution that Confluence are preparing to release soon. It is likely that atl.footer will render invisibly so it will allow background scripts to function on those content types. I will have more details and an ETA shortly.

Thanks
James

Yeah we know, that’s why David tagged Tamim: RFC-63: Page Extension in Editor, Design changes and more - #51 by TamimNoorzad

But it shouldn’t have been removed without notice.

I agree entirely. We had some hard conversations internally last week on that topic.
