Bitbucket Data Center app publishing blocked

Hi,

I’m encountering a contradiction between Atlassian support guidance and Marketplace behavior.

I attempted to publish a Bitbucket Data Center app via the Marketplace vendor portal.

What happens:

  • The app uploads successfully.

  • On submit, the portal returns:

“App creation failed. DATA_CENTER hosting type is no longer supported. Please use Cloud hosting. Data Center apps can no longer be published.”

At the same time, Atlassian support previously indicated that Bitbucket Data Center will continue under a hybrid licensing model.

This raises a simple question:

Are new Bitbucket Data Center apps allowed to be published on the Marketplace — yes or no?

If not:

  • does this mean that Bitbucket Data Center continues as a product, but Marketplace distribution for new apps is no longer supported?

Also:

  • for apps that were created before the December 2025 deadline and remain private — is it still possible to make them public?

Right now there seems to be a mismatch between policy communication and actual Marketplace behavior.

I suspect it’s just a bug in the vendor portal. If you open a support ticket here ( Jira Service Management ) they will hopefully fix the error you are encountering.

As far as I can tell Bitbucket DC apps are still regular business as usual, and new submissions should be allowed.

New Jira DC and Confluence DC apps are not allowed.
