Cloud org admin - REST API for unmanaged users

Hi, I’m pretty new to the REST API for Atlassian Cloud, and noticed that as a organization admin, I’m pulling no users from the org API because none of them are managed users. This is similar to a 5 year old post - Organizations REST API - Get users in an organization returns an empty list - #5 by GiladWisney.

I can run a manual export of all users, and find claimed users within my organization, and it looks as if I have to run through every product to find the list of users - is this the best way to go about getting a list of unmanaged users and what product they’re currently using?

Also, if I claim users to become managed users, do users lose the ability to change settings? Or are there basically no difference other than the fact that they don’t necessarily control their user anymore in some backend with no visible changes?

Yep. The Org Admin APIs are designed for maintaining managed users and don’t care much about unmanaged users.

Yes and no, depending on what you mean by ‘settings’. Read through the Manage your organization’s users documentation to learn about the differences between account types.
