com.atlassian.mail.Email escaping space and comma characters in to/cc/bcc fields

The to, cc and bcc fields in com.atlassian.mail.Email use space and comma as an email address separator. If I have spaces or commas in my email address, how do I escape them?

I know this is 2 years old, but for anyone who stumbles upon this page, spaces and commas aren’t legal in email addresses, so it’s not really an issue

you can have spaces and commas in an email address if you escape and enclose them in quotes. e.g. “given,\ surname”@domain

I can’t remember the exact issue, but I think com.atlassian.mail.Email was using a simple split
