Deprecation notice: Handling user identifiers for exporting issue data

Hello everyone,

We are replacing usernames with user display names and user account ids in CSV issues export file.

What is changing?

The format of the CSV produced by the issue export process is changing. User fields are currently exported as usernames, but once these changes take effect, each user based field will be represented by two fields in the CSV - a user display name field and an account ID field.

Old CSV Headers:
Summary,Issue key,Issue id,Issue Type,Status,Project key,Project name,Project type, Project lead ,Project description,Project url,Priority,Resolution, Assignee , Reporter , Creator ,Created,Updated,Last Viewed,Resolved,Due date,Votes,Description,Environment, Watchers ,Original Estimate,Remaining Estimate,Time Spent,Work Ratio,Σ Original Estimate,Σ Remaining Estimate,Σ Time Spent,Security Level

New CSV Headers:
Summary,Issue key,Issue id,Issue Type,Status,Project key,Project name,Project type, Project lead,Project lead id ,Project description,Project url,Priority,Resolution, Assignee,Assignee Id , Reporter,Reporter Id , Creator,Creator Id ,Created,Updated,Last Viewed,Resolved,Due date,Votes,Description,Environment, Watchers,Watchers Id ,Original Estimate,Remaining Estimate,Time Spent,Work Ratio,Σ Original Estimate,Σ Remaining Estimate,Σ Time Spent,Security Level

Difference to be noted:

  • The bold marked fields in Old CSV Headers have been replaced by bold marked fields in New CSV Headers
  • Bold marked fields in Old CSV Headers used to have usernames
  • Usernames have been replaced with user display names with same header
  • User account ids have been added additionally for each of the fields

Why is it changing?

This is happening in order to improve user privacy.

What do I need to do?

If you have any apps or scripts that are dependent on exported CSV issue files, then you should test their resiliency to the changes. This feature will be available to app developers who have enrolled tenants in the Jira Cloud Vendor First Release program starting September 22nd, 2020.

By when do I need to do it?

We are planning to roll out the changes on October 19th, 2020.

Is there a way to disable these fields when exporting?

Did you find a way to disable these fields?

@MaximilianoJavierJul and @BhairavPatel,

Welcome to the Atlassian developer community. Since this forum is mostly about APIs and the developers who build with them, I don’t think you’ll get an answer here. I recommend asking over in the Jira user community:
