Email verification coming to Jira Service Desk

A long awaited feature is coming to Jira Service Desk! Releasing in Jira Service Desk 4.7, 4.5.3, and 3.16.13, we’re introducing email verification. Now customers signing up on the help center and customer portal will go through a validation flow to ensure the email they entered is correct and real. This will improve the security of your service desk, and is designed to have minimal impact on ease of use.

Versions this change impacts

  • 4.7.0
  • 4.5.3
  • 3.16.13

What will I need to do?

If outgoing email is enabled, no action is required. If outgoing email is disabled or not configured and public signup is enabled, you will need to setup outgoing email to continue using public signup in the future. Learn more about configuring outgoing email at Configuring an SMTP mail server to send notifications. This will not impact customers being invited to a service desk project.
