Hi partner community,
Following the early announcement of changes to our app management experience in September 2024 We are making app management easier for our Cloud Admins we will start with the UPM deprecation on Monday Feb 10, 2025 (also see https://developer.atlassian.com/changelog/#CHANGE-2186)
Taking your feedback on board, we have made the app actions more visible in the app overview screen, with ‘Configure’ and ‘Get started’ actionable through a single click. Over time, more actions will be brought forward into the dropdown.
We have also reviewed the private app installation flow. Once you enable the development mode in the settings, a new button, ‘Install a private app’, will appear in the top right corner of Connected Apps. There, you can add the descriptor URL to install your app.
More manage app improvements will be made over the coming months. Remember, you can send us your feedback at any time using the ‘Give feedback’ option in Connected Apps.
Hi @JuliaDaehne, thanks for the improvements.
Are there any APIs available, many people have written automations that used UPM to install app stacks in a pipeline or script for development or CI/CD/testing and we have kept back from improving these as they won’t work soonish - I guess.
How can we do this with the new way of installing? I didn’t find anything here About cloud admin REST APIs
Thanks, Chris

Hi @christoffer, we are still using the UPM backend so the REST API should remain available even after the change.
Note that you may have to re-toggle ‘development mode’ in the settings to see the ‘install a private app’ button. This is because we move from 4 toggle options in UPM (Confluence, Jira, private listing and developer mode) to 1 toggle (development mode for all apps).
Ie: only if you had developer and private listing for Jira and Confluence toggled in UPM would you see the app install setting enabled in admin.atlassian.com
I hope this helps, Julia
