Forge app: IP ranges from EU regions?

Hello guys,

We have encountered an interesting question from one of our customers regarding the outgoing connections made by our Forge app. To ensure proper firewall settings, we usually direct our customers to this documentation

However, the customer is specifically asking if we can provide a list of IP addresses limited to the EU region. They probably would like to ensure that requests made by our Forge app are strictly coming from EU-based IP addresses.

Can we somehow determine which region (e.g., EU, USA … ) the outgoing requests from our Forge app will originate from?
Is there a way to configure or deploy our Forge app so that all outgoing requests come exclusively from EU-based IP addresses?

Thank you for your assistance.

Hi @MartinFischer,

Atlassian’s current data residency policy ensures that data at rest is kept in the pinned region, but data in transit may traverse other regions due to our global infrastructure and routing rules. This is to maintain availability and performance, among other operational considerations.

For Forge specifically, while we strive to keep invocations within the same region as the host product, it is not always possible to guarantee this due to various scenarios that may require routing across different regions. Reference doc.

As a result, we cannot recommend that the customer attempt to restrict their inbound connections for Forge apps to only EU regions, as this could result in a degradation of functionality.
