Hello, we know that if an app is deployed in development only the developer can use the app and when deployed in production we can generate link for installation for the other users. Question is, when deployed in staging, who are the people that can test and use the app?
Hey hi @TristanJayJVirtudazo ,
Staging is similar to development in terms of testing and usage as of today, so if anyone is a contributor or added to the site, they can interact with the app.
There are plans to have distribution enabled on staging too in the future - [FRGE-1253] - Ecosystem Jira, please do vote and comment if you would need this feature.
Thank you for the fast response. I will have last question just to wrap this up, I have tried to deploy the app in development and invited someone to the site (not a contributor) and he cannot interact with the app, if I deploy it to staging, will that person about to interact with the app? since he got message the only the developer can use the app in the development environment.
Hey hi @TristanJayJVirtudazo , this should not happen from my knowledge. I am reaching out to the respective team and will get back on the update soon.
Be it staging, dev or prod, the person added to the site should be able to interact with the app though they are not contributors.
@ChandanaMeka That would be much appreciated since this is my first time developing an app. I wanted to know if there if left to do that’s why the scenario in the photo appeared.
I hope to see any early answers for this. Thank you.
Have you enabled sharing for your app ? https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/distribute-your-apps/#start-sharing-your-app. Can you try enabling sharing and let us know if it works for dev and staging app access for non contributors ?
