Gate module based on license type

When adding Forge modules (like jira:jqlFunctions), I would like to restrict it based on license type. Is there an option to achieve that purely in manifest.yml or do I have to use Dynamic Modules?

Hi @mateuszadamiec, there’s no manifest.yml property to gate a module by license type. The manifest is static per deployment and doesn’t vary per installation. I think you have two options:

  1. Runtime check (simplest): Declare the module statically in the manifest, then check the license inside your function handler using the License API and return an appropriate error or empty result if the license does not qualify.
  2. Dynamic Modules (Preview): Use the Dynamic Modules API to register or delete the jira:jqlFunction module per installation, triggered from an app:installation lifecycle event after checking the license - this truly hides the module from users on unlicensed tiers.
