How to handle Atlassian Cloud Outages?

Hi,
When there is a an Atlassian Cloud Outage (e.g. as of now, Nov 12 2019, 08:33 UTC), my addon fails. Calls to Confluence Cloud return stausCode=502.

Any advice on how to handle this statusCode and how to communicate this to a end user?

Obviously I can check the statusCode in my code, however I’m not sure what to show to my users.
