I’m planning a new public Jira Cloud Forge app.
Can a Forge app be published on Atlassian Marketplace today with subset-user licensing / user-based billing (access.userAccess: true) so customers pay only for licensed users instead of the full Jira site tier?
If yes, is this GA, Preview, or EAP?
If not, what is the current production-ready alternative for a niche app used by only a small subset of Jira users?
It’s currently in early access. Apps have the capability to enable this billing mode in their code base, but the functionality to publish and set prices for such an app in the Marketplace isn’t released yet: https://developer.atlassian.com/platform/forge/changelog/#CHANGE-2500
A typical strategy for a niche app within the existing fixed user tier model is to set a proportionately low per-user price for higher customer tiers that still makes the app economical for large user tiers. If you have a look at some existing apps on the marketplace that target administrator users or JSM agent users, you will get some ideas.
