Jira data source connection gives an error and fail to connect

Hi everyone!

We at Databox offer an integration with Jira to our mutual users. Recently we stumbled upon an issue in regard to one of our users, if anyone can help with this, we would be very grateful. Please find more below.

A user is experiencing and issue with token authentication. While they have a required (recommended) scope for the Get current user

Also, note that the related endpoint sometimes succeeds and doesn’t throw an error which makes this situation even weirder. The same story goes for the 2nd available resource (ecosystem) and for other Jira users as well.

We would like to know what’s causing this authentication issue and if there’s a fix/workaround for it.

Thank you in advance!

Welcome to the Atlassian developer community @DataboxNA,

We appreciate when developers post here to help get “all eyes” on a problem, but the complexity of this case makes it more appropriate for a developer support case. That’s common for anything to do with authentication because of the necessity of keeping secrets (like API tokens or OAuth client credentials). It’s even more important in this case, so we can keep customer data private (thank you for obscuring the above images with that in mind). Overall, the trick is getting enough information to be able to debug while keeping the same information secret.

For what it’s worth, I cannot reproduce the problem. My access token works consistently for the /rest/api/2/myself endpoint.

Hi @ibuchanan,

Thank you for your reply and for pointing us in the right direction.

We will continue our communication by opening a support case.

All the best,
Aljaž
