Released February 20, 2019

Hey Ralph,

Thanks for the announcement. One thing that was a bit peculiar about this release was that our Marketplace compatibility was automatically bumped from 8.0.0.release -> 8.0.1 for our app Automation for Jira.

Turns out there was actually a breaking API change in Jira 8.0.1 that completely broke Automation for Jira and caused some customer frustration for us. That breaking change was not present in the previous 8.0.0.release version.

In particular some constructors were changed on classes in the jira-rest-plugin.jar that we depend on (things like the EditMetaFieldBeanBuilder.java construtors). Now technically that’s not part of the official API so doesn’t need to be backwards compatible, but it would have been good if we didn’t just get auto-upgraded in Marketplace to 8.0.1 compatibility before we got a chance to test the release!

Cheers,
Andreas

Thanks for raising this @andreas. Marketplace auto-updates on point releases as public APIs won’t break between releases.

However as you say you’re relying on an unofficial API for your App.

I’ll bring this up to the Marketplace team to see if there is a solution to this.

Dear Community,
Jira 8.0.1 and Jira Service Desk 4.0.1 have been removed because of this bug, and should not be used.
