Report is not preserving the project sidebar

I am creating a custom report for JIRA. The report shows up in reports section, but when I click to view the report, it completely changes the context such that the user is no longer inside the reports section. The user is taken to the high-level JIRA dashboard and their left-nav just has those top-level items of

  • Dashboards
  • Projects
  • etc…

I’m at a loss knowing where this behavior is coming from. Any suggestions on where to start?
