Smart Links component for UI Kit 2

Supporting Smart Links in UI Kit 2 would enable light-touch integration of Atlassian and non-Atlassian products in Forge plugins.

Example use cases:

  • A Jira Issue panel that displays cards for outstanding related issues.
  • A Confluence space page that shows selected Compass components
  • A onboarding flow that shows a Youtube video or an autoplaying Google Slides presentation.

The simplest implementation would be a new optional “display” property to the Link component, with “url | inline | card | embed” options.

Any chance this could be added as a suggestion for UI Kit 2, and considered for adding to the Forge roadmap?
