Will a user get an earlier minor upgrade when a major upgrade is released?

Hi,

As major upgrades to Forge apps require an explicit (admin) upgrade with “Apps > Manage your apps”, what happens to users in the following case?

  1. Users runs an app on version 1.0
  2. App is updated with a minor version to 1.1, but to user is sleeping or on vacation or has some other excuse to not use the app for a bit.
  3. A major release is made to the app - 2.0.
  4. The user wakes up and uses the app

Will the user run version 1.0 or 1.1 in #4?

This assumes that no admin goes in an updates the app.

Hi there,

the minor version will be updated autmatically. Only major updates have to be upgraded by an admin by hand.

So in your example, the user wil run at 1.1

Yes, all users are automatically upgraded to the latest minor version. In the scenario that you have outlined, all users on 1.0 are automatically upgraded to 1.1. To move from 1 to 2 would require the admin to upgrade it.
