Workflow updates will no longer be in an issue’s history

Hi developer community,

We’re announcing an upcoming change to workflows and issues.

What’s changing?

From July 2023, we’ll no longer record changes to an issue’s workflow on an issue’s history. This means related APIs, like Get changelogs, won’t return this information anymore. When you update your workflows or workflow schemes, we’ll continue to record changes to other issue fields like statuses, projects, and issue types.

Example:

Why are we making this change?

Our team has been working on improving the performance of workflows. Recording workflow changes to an issue’s history slows down workflow updates and don’t reflect changes on the issue itself, making relevant history harder to find.

What do I need to do?

If you use workflow and workflow scheme updates in the issue’s history, you may want to check how you use that data since it won’t be there anymore. Otherwise, no actions are needed.
