We are receiving this from one of our customers.
Apparently promo codes generated by marketplace cannot by applied because… there is not valid ui during purchase proces where the customer can applied it. Our customer have raised ticket against this issue to have it applied manually by marketplace team…
Yesterday I’ve raised the other issue with the marketplace (no “new badge” for newly published apps - because, well it is shown during Atlassian approval process, not after when app is visible for customers). See No "New" badge for newly published forge app on marketplace - #3 by piotr.bojko
Is this kind of a coordinated steps against having successful app vendors on the marketplace? It’s hostile…

Is there anyone who can confirm that some customer does not have possibility to apply promotional codes for forge apps generated from atlassian marketplace?
Promo codes should work with Forge apps. Raise a ticket: Atlassian Support
They’ve also broken promotion codes with the new billing system but don’t seem to consider it a bug.
- Codes get marked as “used” too soon which results in a massive waste of time for everyone:
Please note that with the new billing engine, promo codes are considered “used” as soon as they are applied to a quote and the quote is saved—even if the quote is not finalized or processed by the customer. For single-use promo codes, once they have been applied to a quote, they cannot be reused on another quote, and a new code will be required.
- Entitlement numbers are no longer displayed which makes it very hard to prevent promo code abuse:
If you notice promo codes showing as “used” but there is no associated ENT (Entitlement Number) or completed transaction, we recommend reviewing your sales reports for additional details.
Customers are reporting that they don’t have a place to apply the code - during a shopping/order process. They must do this through issuing a ticket to Atlassian Marketplace.
Support guides them step by step how to achieve this but eventually admits that they do not have possibility to apply the code by themselves.

If billing cycle is annual then “enter promo code” menu is not shown to the customer. It is a bad UI. It is explained in How to apply Promo codes for Marketplace apps–it d... - Atlassian Community
