Hello team,
thanks a lot for taking the time to read and comment on this post. It is great to hear we are generally aligned on the usefulness of showing app activity in the audit logs to our shared customers. As always we learned a lot from you, which helps us to better shape our roadmap. Your openness is much appreciated!
A few key takeaways
- we should differentiate between FE and BE calls
[this won’t be addressed in a first release but we have added this as a major customer &
partner requirement to our product feature backlog] - the volume of app logs can be overwhelming in UI
[we are currently looking into better ways to filter and search audit logs to address this
concern] - have vendors provide a link that explains the API calls
[we don’t provide such option to start with. However we will add app log specific content to
support.atlassian.com to better explain app logs and what is shown in the audit logs] - aggregating API calls
[we are not planning to aggregate API calls, however improved categorisation, filter and search
options will allow admins to better target those apps/ events/ response codes that are most
relevant to them] - you would like to test the feature
[please contact me if you would like to share your OrgID details with us for testing]
App logs will be part of the Atlassian audit log platform. Some of your questions on storage limits and retention period will be reviewed with the relevant team in the context of the platform limits and strategy. You will continue to hear from us through various channels as we make further announcements. Thank you again for your time and input. The RFC is hereby closed, and we hope we were able to answer most of your questions.
